In a good mood, determined, focused. This is how Vice Chancellor Olaf Scholz appeared during his visit to Munich last week. The candidate for chancellor took time for an open conversation with the BurdaForward colleagues and answered their questions about the pandemic fight, the upcoming election campaign and shared his very personal view on the developments in the country.
Whether it's a DAX board member, a prime minister or now the vice chancellor - we are always very pleased when important people and multipliers take a look behind the scenes of a successful digital publishing house. These visits are particularly valuable for us when politicians, like Olaf Scholz last week, are willing to answer our colleagues' questions and engage in an open exchange with them.“
The candidate for chancellor was a guest at BurdaForward for just under two hours. His visit took place following Corona quick tests of everyone present under strict hygiene measures. Moderated by Daniel Steil, Scholz virtually answered the staff's questions and openly discussed the Bundestag election, the political muddle and his very personal handling of the pandemic.
We always get very positive feedback when we can have open and confidential discussions with politicians "in private". Due to the many questions from our colleagues, the discussion could certainly have gone on for another hour.“
Following the internal talk, Scholz answered further questions for FOCUS Online from Editor-in-Chief Florian Festl and Chief Correspondent Ulrich Reitz.
In this interview published on FOCUS Online, Scholz outlines, among other things, how the SPD wants to overtake the Greens on the issue of climate change and calls for more respect for the Corona heroes. In the interview, he openly comments on the decisions of CDU leader Armin Laschet and criticises the zigzag course of the North Rhine-Westphalian Minister President in Corona politics.
