StreamPicker: BurdaForward launches app for film and series fans

by Johanna Schallehn
More clarity in the streaming flood: StreamPicker is the name of the app with which BurdaForward (including FOCUS online, CHIP, BUNTE.de, TVSpielfilm) is now launching a new information service for film and series fans. While the streaming market is consistently growing, the free app focuses on "class instead of mass". It provides its users with a selected and customised range of film and series recommendations and thus facilitates the search in the gigantic range of streaming services.
Finding your way through the streaming jungle
True to the motto "less is more", StreamPicker users will find five selected streaming recommendations in their app every day - from blockbusters to insider tips. The aim is to make it easier for fans to find the right film or series for them on streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+.
I myself was fed up with the endless rummaging for suitable series tips and the corresponding providers. That's why we set out to develop a personal streaming recommendation that is worth almost as much as one from a very good friend.“
What's it about? Who's playing? Where is it?
The StreamPicker makers were particularly concerned about two things: intuitive operation and the relevance of the recommendations. What is it about? Who is playing? Where is it happening? - Along these three questions, users receive compact information, supplemented by a short video about the respective film or series. The personal favourites can then be saved and managed in the user's own watchlist. With just one click, users have an overview of their favourite films and series and can share them with friends and family at any time.
The StreamPicker app was designed, tested and launched by a 5-person team at BurdaForward over the last few months. They were given the opportunity to found their own start-up within the company. In this way, BurdaForward promotes innovative product ideas that can be implemented with company funds as part of their own corporate start-up.
Out of our shared passion, we have developed an idea that fills a gap in the needs of our users. We are proud that today this idea is being translated into an app launch.“
The StreamPicker app is now available for free download in the App Store and Google Play Store.
