Former Green Party co-chair Ricarda Lang is starting a column on FOCUS online. From December 2024, she will be presenting her views on current political issues and debates for the news portal. “Long-term thinking” is the name of the monthly column, in which she aims to take a constructive look ahead.

Ricarda Lang is banking on a competition of ideas: “I want opposition, because no new idea is born from encouragement alone,” says the 30-year-old.

I deliberately do this at FOCUS online, in a place that I wouldn't exactly describe as a green oasis of well-being. But I want to exchange ideas with as many citizens as possible, across party lines and political viewpoints,“
writes the Green politician in her opening column.

FOCUS online supplements the analyses of its journalists with a large circle of strong voices. The portal's “Experts Circle” now comprises 120 personalities from politics, business and science who regularly publish for the portal (focus.de/experts).

After the traumatic experience of the traffic light coalition and the upcoming short, tough election campaign, the parties will have to overcome major differences in order to form a government,“
says Florian Festl, editor-in-chief of FOCUS online.

“This makes an ideology-free exchange of positions among democrats all the more important. We are giving this a wide-reaching stage on FOCUS online.”

Lang resigned at the end of September together with her co-chair Omid Nouripour. She is running for a direct mandate in her constituency of Backnang - Schwäbisch Gmünd in Baden-Württemberg in the upcoming 2025 Bundestag elections.

Ricarda Lang's opening column can be found here on FOCUS online from today.
