Doing business successfully without depleting our planet's resources - that's what the cooperation between FOCUS online Earth and the UnternehmerTUM initiative CIRCULAR REPUBLIC is all about. Just in time for the first big CIRCULAR REPUBLIC FESTIVAL from 15-18 November, the news portal's climate portal is giving the topic of the circular economy the big stage as a media partner. FOCUS online is focussing on one very specific and constructive question: What can Germany do better and learn from others in order to successfully operate a resource-efficient circular economy?
Circular economy is the word of the hour when it comes to future-proof solutions for successful sustainable business. It is about radically reorganising processes from product design and material use to production - always with the aim of slowing down, reducing or recovering resources. To help companies and start-ups with this challenge, UnternehmerTUM, Europe's largest centre for innovation and start-ups, has launched the CIRCULAR REPUBLIC initiative. As part of the four-day CIRCULAR REPUBLIC FESTIVAL in Munich, companies and start-ups will present their projects and circular economy experts will discuss circular innovations and what needs to be done now. The young climate brand FOCUS online Earth, which already reaches more than 8 million people, has set itself the goal of creating more visibility for this.
The collaboration between CIRCULAR REPUBLIC and FOCUS Online Earth is a perfect match - not least because of the proximity to young companies that are rethinking business and ecology. Such approaches lead to inspiring reporting for our readers.“
Matthias Ballweg from CIRCULAR REPUBLIC emphasises: "Only companies that have understood the circular economy and align themselves accordingly will be successful in the 1930s. That is why it is essential that the circular economy and the innovation and start-up ecosystem are interlinked"
"The circular economy has an image problem"
FOCUS online Earth accompanies the event week and puts the topic of the circular economy on the agenda with illustrative examples and assessments from experts. Why? Because circular economy still receives little attention. That's why Saba Ghirmai, Head of FOCUS online Earth, will be speaking on site in a panel entitled "Circular economy: The most important story you have never heard" with futurologist Anabel Ternès, Sophia von Bonin (Mission Lead Circular Futures, Project Together) and Manon Sarah Littek (Founding Partner Green Generation Fund). They will discuss the presence of this efficient instrument for climate protection and the need for media attention for the topic of the circular economy.
The circular economy has an image problem. Negative examples such as recycling lies or criticism of economic efficiency often dominate the headlines. That's why we want to finally bring success stories and role models to the fore, because there are plenty of them.“
In a focus week, the news portal is therefore reporting on recycling role models, sustainable home refurbishment and resource-efficient innovations that are economically worthwhile. Guest authors such as Alvarez Pereira (Vice President Club of Rome), Reinhard Schneider (CEO Frosch Werner & Mertz) and Sarah Fleischer (CEO tozero) will be among the contributors. The FOCUS online Earth team will be reporting on site in a live ticker and putting the topic on the agenda with interviews with the big names in the circular economy.
