DMEXCO 2024: Innovation meets responsibility

on 20 September 2024

#goodvertising

Once again, DMEXCO 2024 captivated everyone - and BurdaForward was right in the middle of it! At our open-air stand, colleagues exchanged ideas with industry experts, while the smell of currywurst was in the air and a good mood was guaranteed.

In line with this year's trade fair motto “Prompting the Future”, the speakers focused on the diverse possibilities and opportunities of digital technologies in marketing and communication. This included BurdaForward with Co-CEO Lydia Rullkötter and Executive Director Sabrina Büchel.

Many content highlights

A real highlight was the fully attended panel “Trends in Media 2025” on the Mediastage with Dr. Lydia Rullkötter, Co-CEO at BurdaForward. She spoke about media trends of the future, the importance of trust and the need for human quality control in the age of AI-generated content. In the high-profile panel with Martin Bardeleben (Pinterest), Robert Jozic (Schwarz Media), Nadine Kamski (L'Oréal) and Eun-Kyung Park (The Walt Disney Company), moderated by Frank Puscher, she also shared BurdaForward's vision of shaping personalization responsibly:

It is important to us not to send users into a bubble. It is important to consciously set topics and to look constructively at the world. This is also what the FOCUS online Earth brand stands for, which is used to find targeted and fact-based solutions to the heatedly debated climate issue.“
Dr. Lydia Rullkötter

Sabrina Büchel hit the nerve of the times with her masterclass on “Responsible Media”. She emphasized the responsibility we bear as a media and advertising industry, especially with regard to exciting developments in the areas of data protection and AI. With a passion for goodvertising, she demonstrated how sustainability can be practiced in advertising.

Inspiring days and great encounters

With 680 exhibitors, 850 speakers and 40,000 visitors, #DMEXCO2024 once again brought together the big names in the industry. During these two exhausting but inspiring days, the #Goodvertising team from BurdaForward once again showed what is possible when good advertising and good deeds are combined. Reuniting with old acquaintances and meeting new faces was a real enrichment, and we were delighted to be able to invite many of them for a traditional currywurst.

BurdaForward Communications

My journey at BurdaForward began after my bachelor's degree. Originally starting as an intern, I completed my traineeship and then joined the company as Communications Manager - a decision that turned out to be absolutely right. Corporate Communications is the central nervous system of the company and that's exactly why it's so exciting. Every day brings new challenges and I love being a part of it. When I'm not in the office, I spend my time outdoors with my dog or discovering new corners of beautiful Hamburg.
