More and more people are slipping into poverty due to Corona. The demand for the Tafel is increasing: artists, solo self-employed or people affected by short-time work - more and more people are struggling with economic existential problems due to the Corona crisis.
This is precisely why the work of the Tafel is more important than ever in the Corona era. But without donations, solidarity work for the needy like that of the Tafel would be inconceivable. In these troubled times, of all times, the Tafel is facing massive problems: Many older volunteers belong to the risk group.
Even the one-time payment of 150 euros, which was decided by the government after almost a year of pandemic as Corona aid for recipients of basic income support, is not enough, says Jochen Brühl, chairman of Tafel Germany. "What we would like to see for poor people would be sustainable solutions. Otherwise, even more people will slip into poverty."
As part of the #CoronaCare relief campaign, BurdaForward already supported the Tafel at the beginning of the Corona pandemic. With the donation of 50,000 FFP2 masks, the Burda subsidiary, together with the mask manufacturer FCMU, is now once again helping those in need.
