Since January, FFP2 masks have been compulsory in public transport and retail. BurdaForward wants to help those for whom the cost is a burden and is initiating FCMU together with the mask manufacturer

The donation of 50,000 FFP2 masks to Tafel Germany

Donations are extremely important for our work. Not only because they help us materially, but also because they are a signal to others that you don't always have to badmouth everything. They are an important sign that solidarity counts.“
Jochen Brühl, Chairman of Tafel Deutschland

More and more people are slipping into poverty due to Corona. The demand for the Tafel is increasing: artists, solo self-employed or people affected by short-time work - more and more people are struggling with economic existential problems due to the Corona crisis.

This is precisely why the work of the Tafel is more important than ever in the Corona era. But without donations, solidarity work for the needy like that of the Tafel would be inconceivable. In these troubled times, of all times, the Tafel is facing massive problems: Many older volunteers belong to the risk group.

Even the one-time payment of 150 euros, which was decided by the government after almost a year of pandemic as Corona aid for recipients of basic income support, is not enough, says Jochen Brühl, chairman of Tafel Germany. "What we would like to see for poor people would be sustainable solutions. Otherwise, even more people will slip into poverty."

As part of the #CoronaCare relief campaign, BurdaForward already supported the Tafel at the beginning of the Corona pandemic. With the donation of 50,000 FFP2 masks, the Burda subsidiary, together with the mask manufacturer FCMU, is now once again helping those in need.

Jochen Brühl, head of Tafel Germany, explains in an interview with FOCUS Online why solidarity is needed right now and how everyone can help: To the interview

During my studies I discovered my enthusiasm for communication. Here, at BurdaForward, I have now been given the opportunity to live it out. When not in the office, you can usually find me somewhere in the mountains for mountaineering and skiing or on the Isar.

Joining forces against the Corona Blues

Usually, Advent is a time of coming together. This year, however, people are encouraged to isolate themselves and keep their distance. The lockdown is hitting Germany hard. How can we nevertheless help people feel hope, feel less lonely and move closer together, at least a little, from within their own four walls at home? That's what colleagues at BurdaForward asked themselves. Joining forces, the teams went on air on this fourth Sunday of Advent on Focus Online, Bunte.de, Chip, TV Spielfilm, FitForFun and the other portals in a nine-hour livestream.
