IT companies in check: CHIP awards the best employers for IT professionals

by Eva Schuler
Anyone with training in the IT sector is in great demand on the labour market. But the size of the offer leaves the employee spoilt for choice. In a study, CHIP and GreatJobs.org analysed the job landscape in Germany and awarded the top employers for IT professionals with the CHIP test seal.
In the six-month study, the experts closely scrutinised more than 2,800 companies and ultimately awarded 670 employers. In the process, individual aspects such as the application process, corporate websites or employee opinions on the kununu rating portal were analysed in order to ultimately identify the best employers in the IT sector in the overall score.
This overall score is made up of the results of all tests: The responses to applicant enquiries, the test applications, the website check with 23 criteria regarding information content and significance, as well as general employee satisfaction.
AOE and axxessio achieve top scores in their sectors
In the IT sector, AOE leads the ranking by a clear margin: With a score of 94 per cent, the business IT specialist meets all the requirements of the check with top scores. The IT and management consulting company axxessio takes first place in the survey of the consulting industry and offers IT experts very good career opportunities.
Obscure application processes at more than 50 percent of the companies
Even in professions where there is a shortage of labour, the application process is not always made easy for prospective candidates. Incomplete contact details on company websites offer applicants no opportunity to ask general questions or even queries. At the same time, only 36 per cent of the companies even list IT as a professional field on their website.
Recruiting applications that simplify internal processes but feel complicated and not user-friendly from the outside are also reasons for applicant dissatisfaction. The applicant tools often require a lot of information from the potential employee, which is immensely time-consuming. Only 35 per cent of the companies tested allow applications without an online form. In some cases, companies did not provide any feedback on the submitted applications until the end of the study.
The CHIP seal of quality for companies
For 40 years, the CHIP Test Seal has been the criterion for the quality assessment of technical products and services. In the meantime, the 13 employees of the large test centre put more than 1,000 products of all kinds through their paces every year - far beyond technical gadgets.
Now, for the first time, companies are also being tested with regard to their external impact. They are given the opportunity to distinguish themselves through a clear presentation and good processes and at the same time to further optimise their interaction with interested parties.
With the multi-stage test procedure consisting of mystery applications, the information content of the company websites and the employee evaluation, we rely as usual on transparency and our know-how in the IT sector, which our users always appreciate. The CHIP test seal stands for orientation and quality not only among consumers. Companies such as Axa, SAP or flatex also rely on the CHIP seal to differentiate themselves in the market.“
