Most teenagers and young adults rely on CHIP.de in all questions of everyday life. According to the latest study of the Media Diversity Monitor (2019-II), the consumer portal positions itself before web.de and the streaming platform Netflix. CHIP.de reaches more than 24 million people every month with its expert tips and product tests.
With a 2.6 percent of the market share, the brand from BurdaForward takes the lead in the opinion market of 14 to 29-year-olds. The Media Diversity Monitor is published twice a year by an association of the State Media Authorities and describes the cross-genre distribution of media opinion power in Germany. The monitor aims to create transparency against the background of structural changes and progressive convergence of the media market.
CHIP.de is the far-reaching portal for news, Downloads, independent tests and purchase consultation in Germany. The brand operates one of the largest product test centres in Europe and is thus the first point of contact for independent expert tips on technology and consumer topics. From Smartphones, household appliances to trend foods, CHIP.de provides information on all products of daily life. Beyond that on-line portal offers a large selection of free software and App Downloads and is one of the most important on-line Communities in Germany.
CHIP.de asserts itself in the overall ranking of all age groups with 1.1 percent market share in eleventh place and is together with the BurdaForward portal FOCUS Online one of the only two purely journalistic online media in the Top 30. In the evaluation of the Internet or online media, CHIP.de with 3.6 percent of the market closes the Top 3.
Likewise the study makes clear: Particularly with young humans the Internet wins as opinion-forming medium increasingly in meaning, and is thereby the television as past front runners to displace.
