Inspiration, entertainment, knowledge transfer, relaxation, networking - and all that away from the daily business routine. With the Work-Life-Day on February 25, 2021, BurdaForward dedicated a 10-hour live program to its own colleagues. Colleagues, artists, athletes, coaches and celebrities such as Peter Maffay, Tim Mälzer, Fabian Hambüchen and Jan Frodeno created 17 colorful sessions around the topic of work-life balance.

A new approach to employee motivation
Around 800 journalists, developers, product managers, data experts, marketing specialists and salespeople work for BurdaForward every day with great commitment and passion, in addition to all the personal challenges caused by the Corona pandemic. After all, their hearts' desire is to keep more than 42 million users on offerings such as FOCUS Online, CHIP.de, TV SPIELFILM Online and BUNTE.de informed with fast news, relevant solutions and concrete support.
Our colleagues have achieved extraordinary things in the past twelve months under immense professional and private challenges. It was time to get inspired away from the daily work routine, have fun together and thus give something back. This is how the idea of the Work-Life-Day was born. The feedback from colleagues is outstanding and makes us all particularly happy.“
Under completely new conditions, the objective remains unchanged: Moving together, joining forces, celebrating successes and awakening team spirit.
From Hambüchen, to Mälzer and Maffay, to Frodeno
The 10-hour live program includes 17 sessions on the topics of work, life and balance: How can I develop professionally? How do I grow personally? How do I always create a balance for my well-being?
Tips and tricks for more flexibility in the home office from gymnastics world champion and Olympic gold medalist Fabian Hambüchen kick things off. Peter Maffay, who has sold over 50 million records in the course of his career, talks about how he also derives positive benefits from periods of seclusion. At lunchtime, celebrity chef Tim Mälzer discusses how to eat a healthy and varied meal on stressful home-office days. Ironman world champion Jan Frodeno talks to Oliver Eckert about the fundamental role of training, will and passion on the road to success.
A day for the soul and togetherness
Meditation, networked running during the lunch break, the drawing lesson for getting creative, a face yoga session and impulses for more resilience and mindfulness strengthen body and soul. Insights from the startup Femtasy, astrological career tips and help for working at a distance motivate in professional terms. Hunting experiences, advice on home schooling and beauty tutorials provide inspiring discussions from the heart of life.
During and between the individual program points of the stream, which is very lively commented on via chat throughout the day, BurdaForward remains virtually connected. In topic-related sessions, which all colleagues can open independently, there will also be face-to-face exchanges in small rounds. The digital speed dating provides a special surprise effect: 5 minutes of one-to-one are the perfect opportunity to meet familiar faces and get to know new ones after a year in the home office.
