Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Oliver Eckert is CEO of BurdaForward. As head of the executive board he is responsible for the areas Strategy, Finance and Human Resources among other tasks. He studied business administration at University of Cologne and attended the Axel Springer School of Journalism. He is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. Oliver Eckert was editor-in-chief of Bild.de and managing director of RP Online before founding Finanzen100 in 2009, which is still part of BurdaForward today as a leading mobile stock exchange service. By the end of 2010, Oliver Eckert took over the management of FOCUS Online and its associated digital sales organisation. Since then he has successively expanded the publishing business with additional portals.
Dr. Tanja Prinzessin zu Waldeck
Chief Operating Officer (COO)
As COO of BurdaForward, Dr. Tanja zu Waldeck is responsible for Business Development, Strategy Implementation and Data Science. After graduating from WHU, Tanja zu Waldeck started her career at McKinsey, where she stayed as a consultant for six years. While expecting her first daughter in 2007, she founded NetMoms and made it one of the largest parent websites in Germany. In 2012, the mother of four joined the management of today's FOCUS Online Group. Before she became COO, Tanja zu Waldeck was already managing director of the BurdaForward network for more than a year. In that role, she was responsible for the sales business together with Martin Lütgenau.
Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
In addition to his activities as CTO of BurdaForward, Thomas Koelzer is managing director of the FOCUS Online Group. After studying electrical engineering at RWTH Aachen University, he established the German sales and European product marketing organisations for a French chip card company in the years 1992 to 1999. From 2000 to 2003, he founded an IT security company commissioned by the technology group G&D. It quickly grew into Germany's largest IT security service provider from 2004 onwards as a listed AG. Thomas Koelzer joined the Burda ConsumerTech Group in 2012 as CTO. From 2014 to 2018 he was managing director of CHIP Digital and CHIP Communications
Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)
Besides his responsibilities as CMO of BurdaForward, Martin Lütgenau is managing director of the in-house sales unit BurdaForward Advertising. He began his career at ARBOmedia and Microsoft before taking over the management of TOMORROW FOCUS Media (today BurdaForward Advertising) in 2002. When BurdaForward was formed, Lütgenau's marketing companies migrated to the Burda subsidiary. Today he heads BurdaForward's entire advertising business and is responsible for Direct and Programmatic Sales as well as Display, Video and Content Marketing. He is also responsible for Research and Transactions at BurdaForward.
Chief Content Officer (CCO)
As CCO, Daniel Steil is responsible for the content strategies of all BurdaForward portals. He leads major innovation and strategy projects and is also responsible for the publisher network, which now includes over 100 publishers among its partners. Previously, he was managing director of HuffPost and spokesman of the executive board of the FOCUS Online Group. From 2011 to 2018, Daniel Steil was editor-in-chief of FOCUS Online. In this role, he made the portal one of the top German news websites. He was co-founder of the Swiss evening newspaper "heute" and previously head of entertainment for brands such as "Blick" in Switzerland and "BILD" in Germany. Daniel Steil holds a degree in business administration, a law degree and an EMBA in media management.
Chief Executive Officer CHIP
Philipp Brunner is CEO of CHIP and a member of the executive board of BurdaForward. In this role, he is responsible for Procurement and M&A as well as the online and print business of the CHIP Group. Philipp Brunner holds a degree in financial and business mathematics of the TU of Munich and an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau. In 2004, he started his career as a strategy consultant at Roland Berger and later at Oliver Wyman. Brunner spent seven years at Vodafone Kabel Deutschland GmbH, most recently as vice president for cable B2C products. In 2017, he joined BurdaForward as managing director of CHIP, where he was responsible for the print business and the successful launch of the e-mobility portal EFahrer.com.
Managing Director FOCUS Online Group
Jürgen Schlott is the managing director of FOCUS Online Group GmbH. Together with Thomas Koelzer, he is responsible for the portals FOCUS Online, The Weather Channel, NetMoms and Finanzen100. After studying political science in Augsburg, he joined the market research department of IDG Magazine Verlag. Since 2005, Jürgen Schlott has been working in various fields at TOMORROW FOCUS Media (now FOCUS Online GmbH). Schlott has made significant contributions to the growth of FOCUS Online especially through his work in the areas of SEO, research and web analytics. From 2015 to 2016, he successfully established The Weather Channel as a brand and introduced its new business model on the German market.
Chief Operating Officer CHIP
Andreas Laube is COO at CHIP. He is primarily responsible for the CHIP magazines and the further development of the digital start-up EFAHRER.com. Following his apprenticeship as a management assistant in publishing, Andreas Laube studied marketing communications. He was marketing and sales director at the Finanzen-Verlag in Munich before he joined Burda Medienvertrieb in 2003. Laube had been responsible for the sales of CHIP magazines and other Burda titles for eight years, when he joined CHIP as director Distribution & Customized Media in 2011. In 2016, Andreas Laube joined the management of FOCUS Online Group GmbH for two years, where he was primarily responsible for the expansion of the HuffPost and The Weather Channel portals.
